Welcome to today's class.
Today we are going to do active pigeon.
Bring your leg 90 degrees.
90 degrees here.
This position itself might feel weird.
You can walk your leg out a little bit.
You are going to feel it in the hip flexor.
If you are sitting here and it is uncomfortable in this area,
we need to stretch the hip flexor a little bit.
One good stretch to stretch the hip flexor is to come forward like this.
And just lean forward.
You want to try to keep your heel on the ground.
So adjust it forward.
You can also keep the leg in between your hands.
Shoulders down and back.
But you are just relaxing the hip flexor.
So just take a couple of breaths.
If you want a deeper stretch, walk this leg out on the outside.
It just gives you more room to drop down.
The leg will tip out. That's okay.
But you are getting a deeper stretch on this leg.
If you want to make it deeper yet,
lift the knee up or the leg up.
Bend the knee and lift the foot up.
You really don't feel it in the hip flexor.
But when you first start, just go straight with it.
It can feel kind of funky on the knee when you lift the foot up like that.
So just stretch it out.
You are getting both sides stretched here.
And then come back.
After about 6 to 8 breaths,
you are going to switch and do it on the other side.
